A downloadable game for Windows

Imagine a game where every move you make in combat is shaped by a unique dialogue-driven choice system, and every decision you make in the story has real consequences.

That's our narrative-driven tactical RPG, where we're bringing the flavor of tabletop gaming to the digital realm for an immersive and meaningful experience.

For now this is just a proof of concept build made for playtesting and gather feedback. You play just like any other visual novel by making choices presented to you.

The story is also just an initial concept and is very subject to change in the future. We would love to hear your thoughts about this idea.

Hey! I’m really excited to try this game, but when I downloaded it and ran it, I couldn’t figure out how to progress. Based on your screenshots, I think the “Next” button was cut off for me–I couldn’t click it, so I couldn’t continue past the first page. The music is really nice, though! Did you write it, or did you get it somewhere else?

I started it on my one screen which is 1366x768, and then moved it over to my second screen which is 1920x1080. Neither one seemed to help. I figured out that ESC opens the menu, which also looks a little funny. I included screenshots below. Hopefully they’re helpful to you!

I’m really excited to try this proof of concept out. :) It looks very cool!

Thanks for pointing that out! I did a little fix that I hope it works now. This project was somewhat put on hold for now as we couldn't really figure out the proper way to move it forward, but I think this proof of concept is still fun. Also Upheavel looks amazing! I've wishlisted it and hope it's a success.

Thank you, your fix worked for me! :D It is a very nice proof of concept! I really liked the tactical grid combined with the visual novel-style combat choices. None of the HP bars went down for me, i.e. it didn’t look like anyone was taking damage during the fight, either my characters or the dockers–I’m not sure if that’s a bug or just wasn’t finished for the demo, but I thought I’d let you know.

Thanks for wishlisting Upheaval! <3 I appreciate your well wishes! :)

Hey! I really like what you have so far. Even though it is extremely brief. The different choices in combat do seem to make a difference. It takes me back to my D&D days. You should check out a similar game that is all choices called Sacred Fire on Steam. I am looking forward to seeing what you continue to add to this project.
